Recommended Commentaries for 2 Peter

I will be recommending commentaries for the book of 2 Peter with this post.

1, 2 Peter, Jude, by Tom Schreiner.   IMHO Schreiner has written one of the better commentaries on 2 Peter.  He defends Petrine authorship and deals well with difficult passages (e.g., 2 Pet 2:1).

The Letters of 2 Peter and Jude, by Peter H. Davids.  I really like Davids commentary.  Davids provides some excellent insights and frames his thoughts from a biblical-theological standpoint on a number of occasions.

2 Peter, Jude, by Doug Moo.  Moo is one of my favorite authors.  This commentary is excellent.  Moo’s  “Bridging Contexts” section after each passage was very helpful.

Jude, 2 Peter, by Richard Bauckham.  Bauckham does not believe Peter wrote 2 Peter, but this should not detract from the numerous exegetical insights found in Bauckham’s work.

Jude, 2 Peter, by Gene Green.  Green’s commentary is recent.  He does offer some unique thoughts on 2 Peter, but I found the above titles more engaging.

2 Peter and Jude, by Michael Green.  I found that many of the authors cited above reference Green’s work.  He has some helpful insights.

There are a few other forthcoming commentaries on 2 Peter that I’ve heard about, but Hafemann’s was the only one that drew my interest.

2 Peter(New International Greek Testament Commentary), by Scott Hafemann.

I’ve been blogging through 2 Peter for about 6 months now. These look like some great resources for me to check out. Thanks.
