Quote of the Week

Christ the Lord is risen today!  Robert Reymond reminds us of what that means.

There can be no question, in light of such undeniably transparent language, that upon his resurrection and ascension (these two events may be construed quite properly together, even though the former preceded the latter by forty days, as the collective two-stage means to his exaltation to lordship), and as the fruit and reward for his labors on earth, Jesus the Messiah was granted supreme lordship and universal dominion over men.  It was this Christ, in precisely the terms of this glorious messianic lordship, who was made central to all early apostolic preaching.  The apostles were solicitous to draw out the implications of Christ’s exclusive lordship over the world for their audiences.  For them, because of who Christ is, the work he did, the place he presently occupies, and the titles he bears, “salvation is in no one else, for there is no other name given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). (Reymond, Jesus Divine Messiah, 397-398, 400)
