Literary Study Bible

My friend Tim Hawkins sent me a brochure for a new study Bible due out in September.  It is entitled the Literary Study Bible.  It is based on the English Standard Version and is edited by Leland Ryken and Phillip Graham Ryken.  I noticed several nice features about this study Bible, but two really standout.  First, the editors are interested in the reader understanding genre, which is essential to reading the Bible properly (see a previous post I wrote concerning this issue).  Second, the editors have included in the notes how each book or portions of the book contributes to redemptive-history.  I have attached the brochure.  lsb12brochure.pdf

    Hey, Chad,
What can you tell us about Lyland Ryken and his son – theologically speaking?

    Hi Murray,

I don’t know much about Leland, other than he has written quite a bit on genre and reading the Bible as literature. Phillip is Reformed and has written several books and commentaries (Exodus, Galatians, etc).
